The
'57 NAPCO is a frame up restoration, essentially original. The paint and
a few other details aren't. I bought the truck out of Oklahoma (with Mick's
help) in its present condition and am going through it little by little - starting
with the drive train. I'll eventually take the body off and repaint it
to an original condition. The truck has a custom cab, but nothing else
really special. I bought it because we used these to plow snow at the
family beer distribution business when I was a kid and I fell in love with their
looks. We put big GM V-8's and automatic trannys in them to plow snow,
but I'm now a purest so I'll make this as original as possible. I've shown
it once, but didn't win (because the judges didn't know what it was - they thought
it was a late model conversion). I'll try to get you a better picture.
The AD is a '50. It was a plumbers truck here in central Wisconsin. It was in tough shape when I traded a fishing boat for it (my wife thought I was nuts - she didn't realize what telling me to get rid of the old fishing boat meant). I did the frame up myself, and now use the truck to drive to work. Before becoming a driver, it won a trophy at every show it went to.
